IFLA World Congress
The International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) World Congress is the largest international event dedicated to landscape architecture profession. The Congress will welcome over 120 delegates from more than 80 countries and regions with more than 1,500 international and local participants, including cross-disciplinary practitioners, researchers, educators, businesses and students. The Congress will provide a platform for landscape architects and IFLA’s professional partners from around the world to share their knowledge and networking.
Organized by IFLA, IFLA Asia Pacific Region and the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects (HKILA), the IFLA World and Asia-Pacific Regional Congress 2026 will take place in Hong Kong, China, from 28-30 October 2026 under the theme of “Liminal Landscapes: Shifting Boundaries of Watersheds and Coastlines”.
This three-day event will showcase inspiring keynote speeches, plenary session, presentations, technical tours, exhibitions and social networking events. We sincerely invite landscape architects and professional partners to join us in exploring the transformative potential and opportunities foregrounded by the idea of liminality in landscape architecture in Hong Kong.

International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA)

The International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) was founded in 1948 and represents more than 80 national associations from Africa, the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East and more than 100,000 landscape architects worldwide. It officially represents the world body of landscape architects in both governmental and non-governmental organizations, such as the UN, UNESCO, UIA etc. IFLA’s mission is to promote the landscape architecture profession within a collaborative partnership of the allied built-environment professions, demanding the highest standards of education, training, research and professional practice, and providing leadership and stewardship.
International Federation of Landscape Architects Asia Pacific Region (IFLA APR)

The IFLA Asia Pacific Region (IFLA APR) is a regional arm of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA World), representing 14 national associations in landscape architecture. Established in 1987 and renamed in 2006, IFLA APR has grown substantially over the years with over 150 corporate members and a network reaching 15,000+ professionals. Through awards programs, knowledge-sharing sessions, and regional networking events, IFLA APR champions landscape architecture, fosters collaboration, and promotes excellence across the Asia-Pacific Region.
The Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects

Established in 1988, the HKILA is a professional body incorporated by law under The Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects Incorporation Ordinance (Cap. 1162), with the objects to promote the advancement of landscape architecture, upholding the standard and integrity of the landscape architectural profession, facilitate knowledge exchange and foster pan-regional and cross-disciplinary cooperation. Hong Kong is one of the earliest in the region to have its own professional practice examination and accreditation system for academic programmes starting from the 1990s. HKILA is also a founding member of the Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services (HKCPS), Professional Green Building Council (PGBC) and Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC). HKILA has mutual professional recognition agreement with Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) and New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA).
