Abstracts

Submission Guidelines

The online abstract submission portal will open on 15 February 2026.

Submission Process

Online submission is mandatory

- Email submissions will not be accepted

- Submission deadline: 15 April 2026, 23:59 (UTC+14:00)

Submission Rules

  • Abstracts will be rigorously reviewed by the IFLA 2026 Scientific Committee

  • English language submissions only

  • Abstract length

    • Abstract title: Maximum 20 words

    • Abstract body text: maximum 500 words. This 500-word limit does not include the title or author details of the abstract

    • Keywords: Maximum 5

    • Biography (presenter): Maximum 150 words

    • Presentation format: Abstracts can be submitted for Oral or Poster Presentations. The Scientific Committee will make the decision on the type of presentation to be given.

    • Authors selected for Oral Presentations will be invited to submit by 30-Nov-2026 a short paper (around 3000 words) of their work to be incorporated into the congress proceedings.

  • Number of Submission

    •  The Organizing Committee recommends one abstract per first author/presenter

    • Multiple co-author contributions permitted

Terms and Conditions

By submitting an abstract, authors confirm 

  • Exclusive online submission;

  • All authors approve the abstract content;

  • Information accuracy has been verified.

Presenters should have fully registered and paid by 15-Jul-2026 and committed to in-person presentation in Hong Kong (no remote or pre-recorded videos presentations).

Presentations will be conducted in English.

Permission for abstract publication is given to the organizers.

Acceptance of unedited abstract publication.

Provide references according to the requested standards.

For oral presenters, authors will be invited to provide a short paper (around 3000 words) by 30 November 2026.

  • You need to create an account on the online platform: abstract.ifla2026.com before you can submit your abstract. Abstracts can only be submitted online through the platform. Do not send your abstract by email!

  • The Organizing Committee recommends only one abstract per first author/presenter. However, multiple contributions as a co-author are permitted.

  • All abstracts must be submitted and presented in English with accurate grammar and spelling suitable for publication.

  • Each valid submitted abstract will be reviewed anonymously by at least 2 reviewers. The final selection will be made by the Scientific Committee by the end of April 2026.  

  • Abstracts submitted for oral presentations should not have been previously presented or published. However, it is possible to submit a previously published abstract as a poster presentation.

  • No, only authors whose abstracts are accepted for oral presentations will be required to provide a short paper.

  • No, all presentations, both oral and poster, must be conducted in person. Remote participation is not allowed.

  • There will be 2 formats:

    Short format: 5-minute presentation in a session of 7 presentations, followed by a 20-minute roundtable discussion including audience Q&A.

    Long format: 10-minute presentation in a session of 5 presentations, followed by a 20-minute roundtable discussion including audience Q&A.

  • The conference organizers intend to index the Conference Proceedings in an academic database.

  • How do I submit an abstract?

    No, only authors whose abstracts are accepted for oral presentations will be required to provide a short paper.
     

  • If an abstract is accepted for oral or poster presentation, is the author required to attend in person, or would remote participation be permitted for this format?
    No, all presentations, both oral and poster, must be conducted in person. Remote participation is not allowed.
     

  • What will be the format of oral presentations?
    There will be 2 formats:
    Short format: 5-minute presentation in a session of 7 presentations, followed by a 20-minute roundtable discussion including audience Q&A.

    The conference organizers intend to index the Conference Proceedings in an academic database.
